To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Million Dollar Lunch 2025 embraced a glamorous 1920s theme, blending Art Deco style with modern elegance. Inspired by the client’s wish to honour the event’s legacy, Encore’s creative team crafted a concept that balanced historical homage with contemporary sophistication. Held at Crown Melbourne, which also provided hospitality, the event delivered a transformative experience and raised over $2.2 million for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

Guests were welcomed through a draped tunnel entrance, styled with black panne and sheer fabrics, uplighting and florals, creating an immersive transition into the event. The atrium featured a Hall of Fame-style installation with custom-built gold metallic frames showcasing black-and-white imagery from past events. These were paired with gold mirror floor decals and hundreds of warm white pillar candles placed in formation up the centre of the staircase – an enchanting detail that delighted guests and set the tone for the evening.

Inside the Crown Palladium Ballroom, Encore transformed the space with an impressive, central chandelier custom-build by Encore featuring LED segments to form the Art Deco inspired chandelier shapes, plus a projection-mapped central section, all combining to echo the symmetry of the square stage below. Additional chandeliers were hung throughout the room; each draped in green velvet to reinforce the theme and add depth to the styling. These elements created a layered, cohesive look that blended traditional opulence with modern design.

The room was dressed in black pin-tuck linen, green velvet napkins, gold candle holders and rich floral arrangements in green, white and deep red. Even the glassware was selected to reflect the linear, cut-glass aesthetic of the era. The colour palette and textures were chosen to evoke the richness and glamour of the 1920s while maintaining a fresh, contemporary feel.

Entertainment was woven seamlessly into the guest experience. Aerial performers greeted guests in the atrium, dressed in gold hues accompanied by numerous performing feather fan dances beneath the aerial acts. Roaming talent included actors dressed as 1920s paparazzi and flapper dancers, adding theatrical flair. Live performances featured Grammy-winning artist Toni Childs and rising star Lottie Gallagher, both performing from the central stage. When MC [insert name/Toni Childs] unexpectedly stepped off stage to interact with the audience, Encore’s production team responded immediately; adjusting cameras, lighting and audio on the fly to follow her movements and preserve a flawless experience.

Encore also produced a full suite of multimedia content for LED screens, pixel totems, bar surrounds and media walls. Art Deco-inspired graphics, gold framing and marble textures were used consistently across all assets, ensuring a seamless visual journey from entrance to main event. The donation signage, including QR code prompts, was designed with the same luxury aesthetic, ensuring that even functional elements felt integrated and elevated.

The event’s success was not only measured in dollars raised but in the emotional impact and guest feedback. This year a smaller VIP guest list of approximately 170 attendees were invited elevating the prestige of the event. The Australian Defence Industry Awards returned in 2025 as the most anticipated event on the Defence calendar, once again recognising the outstanding achievements of businesses and professionals across the sector. Held at the National Convention Centre in Canberra for the fourth consecutive year, the black-tie gala brought together industry leaders from across the country for a night of celebration, innovation and national pride.

Encore was once again entrusted by Captivate Events to deliver the production for this prestigious event. With a brief from the client to replicate the successful delivery by Encore in the previous four years and elevate the experience even further, the team set out to create an immersive, elegant environment that matched the calibre of the awards.

From the moment the 700+ guests entered the room, the transformation of the venue was evident. The space was styled with sophistication and technical precision, combining architectural structure with atmospheric lighting and seamless audio-visual integration. Every detail was considered to ensure the evening flowed effortlessly from start to finish.

 

A Stage Designed to Impress

The custom-built stage, designed to be both functional and visually commanding, was framed by a robust truss structure that supported a giant LED screen suspended above, featuring a mix of flat and curved panels. This screen became a dynamic storytelling surface, displaying sponsor reels, award content and visual transitions that guided the evening’s narrative.

Flanking the stage were two towering portrait-oriented projection screens, used for IMAG (Image Magnification) to ensure every guest had a clear view of the action. The truss system also supported lighting fixtures, Speaker Systems and Draping and was integrated cleanly into the overall design, adding structure without distraction.

 

Creating Space Through Design

To enhance the sense of scale, floor to ceiling draping was installed down the length of the room to reduce the overall width to remove any “dead space” while still proving ample room for the attendees to move around during networking. These softened the venue’s edges and created a clean, elegant backdrop that unified the space. The drapes also served as a canvas for a carefully designed room wash and Diamondback fixtures, which cast a tall, even glow across the walls and into the ceiling. The result was a room that felt expansive and immersive, wrapped in warmth and sophistication.

 

Elevating Sponsorship with Light

Sponsorship visibility was seamlessly integrated into the design through the use of custom GOBO projections. These were strategically placed to cast sponsor logos onto the draped walls, creating elegant moments of brand presence that felt organic and elevated. The GOBOs added a dynamic visual layer, reinforcing partnerships without overwhelming the aesthetic.

 

Precision in Sound and Execution

The audio experience was delivered with clarity and balance using a full L-Acoustics system, including Kara line arrays for the main and delay PA systems, Kiva line arrays for front fill and KS28 and SB18 subwoofers for bass reinforcement. X8 speakers were used for band foldback, ensuring performers had the sound quality needed for a polished performance during meal breaks and transitions. An additional L’Acoustics Syva system was deployed in the foyer for pre-function entertainment.

Every element of the production, from lighting cues to transitions between award categories, was executed with precision. The result was a cohesive, elevated experience that ran like clockwork.

The Associations Forum’s dinner event was held at the MCG on 30 April 2025 attended by 200 event planner members. The event showcased the stunning renovations of the Olympic Room, Betty Cuthbert Lounge, and Betty Cuthbert Bar; MCG Events launched a new exciting menu and signature gin; and Encore delivered a highly creative event production, integrating the all the elements together in an unforgettable experience.

The theme “Reimagine What’s Possible” was just the inspiration Encore’s creative team needed, and they rose to the challenge with an integrated event design with the theme woven throughout.

This process enabled the development of a completely bespoke solution to the brief. A speakeasy creative theme was developed which was integrated throughout the event spaces.

Encore managed the entire event, including the floor plan, agenda, styling, and content creation. This comprehensive approach ensured a cohesive and memorable experience for attendees. From the moment guests arrived, they were treated to an experience that stimulated all the senses. The stunning renovations at the MCG truly transformed it into an event venue that is not what might typically be expected at a sporting venue, into a next-generation event space for immersive and creative event experiences. The delicious food and beverages were a marvel in culinary and beverage design. The gin launch with speakeasy-themed surroundings provided a sophisticated environment to try the delicious new spirit.

Theme integration:

The event’s theme, “Reimagine What’s Possible,” was seamlessly integrated into every aspect of the event, from the styled decor to the eye-catching multimedia designed by the creative team. Encore created content for the scoreboards, LED screens, and LED Totems, consistently emphasising the theme throughout the evening.

Venue styling:

The event spaces were truly reimagined with the speakeasy theme, delivering sophisticated yet relaxed feel. The MCG was transformed delivering an immersive environment with themed décor, velvet green draping and florals, aligning with the MCG’s branding. The Olympic Room was transformed into a restaurant-style setting with intimate tables and styled centrepieces.
Menu launch: A cook-to-order menu was crafted by MCG Events to showcase their new menu, again showcasing the elevated culinary experience that MCG delivers.

 

1858 Gin launch:

Guests were welcomed at the Betty Cuthbert Bar with signature cocktails featuring gin—developed in collaboration between MCG and Mountain Goat’s new spirit—and served by flair bartenders.

A magician roamed the pre-function area, providing entertainment during the roving entrees. The event concluded with an “Hour of Power” for networking and dancing with live performances by the band, Midnight Mix, and a DJ.

The Volkswagen Dealer of the Year Awards 2025 was a spectacular event that brought together all Volkswagen dealers in Australia to recognise the best of the best dealers in their network. This annual event is crucial for Volkswagen as it aims to build relationships with dealers across the network, essential, for their business in Australia. The primary objective of the event was to crown the dealer of the year for Volkswagen Australia, creating an atmosphere of celebration with cutting-edge technology, impressive lighting, and a vibrant party atmosphere.

The event was held at Doltone House’s iconic Jones Bay Wharf, a venue that provided a stunning backdrop for the evening’s festivities. Guests arrived at the ground level, greeted by new Volkswagen vehicles illuminated with lights both underneath and inside the cars, creating an impressive first impression. From there, guests took lifts or stairs to the Heritage Wharf, where they were welcomed with drinks and a media wall featuring Volkswagen logos, perfect for photo opportunities and enhancing the event’s branding.

Conference Setup

The daytime meeting featured a two-hour networking session and business presentation for delegates. Volkswagen’s latest electric vehicle models were showcased on a 22-metre satin-finished runway floor, enhanced by a waveform architectural lighting design. Suspended LED tube lights elegantly traced the contours and profiles of the vehicle lineup. The main stage was anchored by a captivating 7-metre-wide LED screen, seamlessly integrated with the striking architectural lighting that unified the entire space. Additionally, a custom-built U-shaped stage, sleekly clad in black, elevated the immersive experience – fully engaging attendees in the presentation.

Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony featured a custom-built U-shaped stage with black cladding and LED strips on the steps. This design was intended to facilitate the flow of the awards presentation and accommodate the string octet on stage.

The stunning event was a visual masterpiece. The main stage comprised a giant LED screen with beautiful multimedia content of glass and mirrors. This theme continued with the team creating a frame for the main stage with 2m, vertical LED tubes complementing the screen content by continuing the mirror feel.

Production of the lavish event required precision coordination, including working with an external designer for the lighting installation, and managing the logistical challenges of setting up the event at Doltone House. Rehearsals were conducted to ensure the awards presentation was perfectly timed. Due to the constraints of this historic building, the team had to get creative with the rigging, devising custom solutions that allowed the team to hang most of the stage design safely and securely within the existing structure without compromising its integrity.

Special Performances

A highlight of the evening was a special performance by an electric cellist who played a remastered version of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” accompanied by a mesmerising light show and

onscreen animation. This performance received great feedback from Volkswagen attendees, adding excitement and energy to the event

The Women in ICT Awards (WIICTA) celebrates the achievements of women in technology through prestigious events in two major cities: Sydney and Auckland. In 2024, the Sydney event took place at Doltone House Jones Bay Warf, while the Auckland event was hosted at Cordis Auckland. The objective was to create a seamless, visually engaging experience while incorporating brand identity and innovation.

The client provided a graphic lockup, which served as the foundation for all event branding, including stage set design, lighting, decor and centrepieces. Encore’s brief was to deliver stunning events in both locations, whilst maintaining a focus on optimising creative production. As a result, Encore needed to tailor the design and technical setup for each event while maintaining a consistent visual theme.

 

Solution

Encore collaborated closely with the client to ensure that each event reflected the vision and prestige of the awards. For the Sydney event Encore created an intricate stage design featuring scenic panels and illuminated light cubes, which aligned with the graphic lockup. Custom-designed table centrepieces comprised LED table lamps that where set to the colour tones in the event graphic, to bring a cohesive look around the room.

The Auckland event required a strategic approach to maintain the same impact as Sydney but for a smaller event. . Instead of scenic panels, striking, super-bright LED screens, paired with stacked printed cubes were used to create a dynamic, 3D stage aesthetic, ensuring an engaging experience without compromising quality. The tech team managed award stings, PowerPoint presentations, and audiovisual elements to deliver a smooth and engaging awards ceremony in both locations.

 

Result

The Women in ICT Awards in both Sydney and Auckland were highly successful, with attendees praising the event’s seamless execution and engaging atmosphere. In Sydney, the elevated production quality and technical innovations added to the premium experience, reinforcing the awards’ reputation as a top-tier industry event. A significant aspect of the brief was the integration of the hexagon motif, a central element of the event’s branding. This design element needed to be incorporated into the stage set, centrepieces, and overall event aesthetic to maintain consistency and enhance the immersive experience.

 

Solution

Encore took a creative and technical approach to bring the Innovation Awards to life. The stage design was built around the hexagon pattern, which was seamlessly integrated into all event elements, from digital visuals to physical decor.

In Sydney, the celebration took place at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf. Delivered on a larger scale, the event allowed for a grand stage setup with branded, gold mirror hexagon centrepieces and hanging decorations, which added a sense of elegance and sophistication. Hearing Australia Annual Conference 2024: From conference to awards night, Encore delivers a winning playbook for a seamless, sports-themed experience at Novotel Sydney Olympic Park.

 

Brief

Encore was proudly selected for another year to deliver the Hearing Australia Annual Conference 2024, held at Novotel Sydney Olympic Park’s Freshwater Ballroom. Hearing Australia, a leading provider of hearing services and devices, adopted a “Kicking Goals in 2024” theme for the event, inspired not only by the venue but by the AFL and NRL Grand Finals. Encore’s brief was to create a full production solution that brought the sporting theme to life, seamlessly transitioning from a daytime conference to an awards night that would engage and celebrate the 140 delegates in attendance. As the in-house production partner for the venue, Encore was tasked with providing a turnkey production solution. A key deliverable was integrating creative sports-themed elements while coordinating the rapid turnaround from conference to awards, ensuring a memorable experience for all.

 

The Solution:

The Hearing Australia Annual Conference began with a daytime conference, designed with a clean, simplistic look. Delegates were seated at banquet rounds, with a flexible stage setup of three projector screens with fixed frames decorated in green uplighting.

With a limited turnaround time, Encore’s team took a minimalist but effective approach, using lighting, Scenic Panels, and table styling to create a fresh and exciting sporting atmosphere for the awards night. The entrance was transformed to emulate AFL goalposts, with 3D Scenic Panels and white uplighting, while green astro turf replaced the typical red carpet to bring the sports theme to life.

Inside the ballroom, tables were styled with centrepieces featuring AFL and NRL balls set atop astro turf, surrounded by decorative candle votives. The lighting scape was set in Hearing Australia’s brand blue along with green to emulate the vibrant feel of a sporting stadium. The fun continued with delegates encouraged to dress up as

sports-themed characters, from cricket umpires to soccer balls, adding a festive and interactive element to the evening. Sporting games placed throughout the venue gave guests additional entertainment between award segments.

Following the formalities, delegates were invited onto the dance floor with a live performance from the Jellybean Jam band, capping off the night with upbeat tunes.

 

Challenges and Successes:

The evening showcased Encore’s exceptional capabilities when their production team turned a challenge into an opportunity. With the hotel at maximum capacity and bump-in time reduced by half, the team brilliantly demonstrated their versatility and collaborative spirit. Team members seamlessly expanded their responsibilities, expertly managing crowd movement while simultaneously orchestrating the room transformation.

The seamless transition between events was so smooth that delegates were unaware of any production challenges. Hearing Australia commended Encore for their flawless execution, noting that the unseen work behind the scenes exemplified the professionalism of a truly dedicated production team.

The Brief

On October 4, 2024, Encore delivered a stunning production for the Melbourne Football Club’s Best and Fairest Awards at the CENTREPIECE Grand Hall. This event was part of a series of six curated for the AFL’s major event week, marking the first time these events were hosted at CENTREPIECE with Encore at the helm, placing high expectations for innovation and excellence.
With a focus on consistency, flexibility, and impactful design, Encore delivered a high-end experience tailored to each brand’s unique identity while maintaining budget efficiency.

The Solution

Encore’s challenge was to create a consistent event production solution for six AFL events, ensuring every event met the same exceptional standard while allowing individual events to showcase their unique branding. From the pre-function areas to the ballrooms, the production maintained a cohesive look, ensuring continuity and professionalism across all events.
For the Melbourne Football Club, Encore’s expertise in AV production shone through, delivering an event that kicked all the goals for the best-and-fairest experiences.

The stage design revolved around strategic use of LED screens, chosen for their flexibility, crystal-clear imagery, and dynamic content capabilities. The screens were configured to maximise visual impact while aligning with budget constraints, offering the ability to display individual or combined content seamlessly.

Encore’s design not only optimised stage space but also created a visually compelling setup that elevated the event’s atmosphere. The Melbourne Football Club’s multimedia team embraced the branding opportunities offered by the LED screens, producing cohesive content that flowed from the digital seating chart in the pre-function area to the stage backdrop in the ballroom. The result was a sophisticated and professional presentation that left a lasting impression.

A dramatic lighting design in the club’s iconic red and blue colors further enhanced the experience. Featuring over 150 R3 washes, 8 Ayrton Rivales, and 8 Axcors, alongside programmed strip lighting, the lighting scape complemented the LED visuals, creating a vibrant and immersive environment for attendees.

Encore faced a tight timeline of just three weeks to design and execute a flexible package solution for six events, each requiring a unique identity while maintaining a high standard of production. This challenge was compounded by the fact that it was the first time that Encore and the AFL businesses had delivered these events at CENTREPIECE.

Through expert collaboration and meticulous planning, Encore delivered a tailored solution that adapted to different event styles, including a cocktail party for the Brisbane Football Club.

Brief:

Euromoney, a globally respected financial publication, tasked Encore with delivering a high-end awards ceremony for their Asia-Pacific Awards for Excellence 2024. Held in The Westin Singapore’s Grand Ballroom, the event aimed to celebrate the banking and finance industry’s top achievers. The exclusive, invite-only ceremony brought together 240 attendees, including banking investment and finance professionals from around the world. Euromoney’s brief to Encore was clear: design a premium, seamless event experience that reflected the prestige of the awards and the calibre of its guests. The Westin Singapore was chosen to host the event following a competitive bidding process, largely due to its world-class business event offering and its partnership with Encore as the in-house event production provider.

The Solution:

Encore provided a turnkey production solution that included audio, visual, lighting design, and overall event production. The centrepiece of the stage was an 8.5 x 3.5m LED wall, which served as a striking visual backdrop for the 43 awards being presented. In keeping with Euromoney’s brand identity, Encore bathed the ceiling and stage in ambient lighting, carefully matched to the brand’s colours, creating a sophisticated atmosphere befitting the event.

To help Euromoney visualise the event design—particularly as they were unable to conduct a site visit—Encore’s design team produced a detailed render. This visual aid enabled the client to see the proposed design in advance and make informed decisions, ensuring alignment between their vision and the event’s execution.
Guests were seated at elegantly arranged banquet tables, with simple yet refined centrepieces that added to the evening’s sophisticated ambiance. Encore also coordinated the event’s photography, videography, and signage, ensuring that every aspect of the production ran seamlessly and professionally. The result was a flawless evening where every detail was meticulously managed.

Attendees, many of whom had flown in from across the globe, were treated to an evening of elegant dining and industry recognition, all within an impeccably designed and executed event space.
