Getting physical with Lorna Jane for Active Nation Day 2016

Encore Event Technologies (formerly Staging Connections) were proud to partner with Lorna Jane to deliver this year's Active Nation Day - a large outdoor fitness and healthy living event held simultaneously across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Having delivered this event three years in a row, the Encore team were well versed in what was required to deliver the roadshow events.

In an attempt to combat obesity and heart disease, Lorna Jane Clarkson launched Active Nation Day in 2012 - a day that stops the nation and ask "Are we doing enough?". Held this year on the 25th of September, Encore were tasked with delivering all the audio visual and lighting for the Brisbane and Sydney events at Brisbane's trendy Gasworks Plaza and Sydney's Entertainment Quarter. As the Melbourne event was held in Federation Square it was delivered by its own in-house audio visual team.

As with every year, the brief to Encore is to deliver an energetic outdoor event using impactful vision and clear audio for the moving fitness instructors and guests to keep the energy levels high. However, being held in unconventional, outdoor venues the Encore team had several challenges to overcome such as noise restrictions, rain, and obstructions to vision and staging due to garden beds and trees.

Lorna Jane Active Nation Day BrisbaneTo work within each venues' sound restrictions extra surround speakers were used to effectively contain the nose with the positioning of these a key factor. Being a daytime event, we installed large, high-powered outdoor screens to project what was happening on stage out to the masses. As an outdoor fitness event, positioning of the screens were crucial to ensure the full workout experience was shared by all guests. These were also weather proofed to ensure rain, hale or shine everyone could keep in time.

As these venues were in public areas, safety was paramount and full risk assessments were completed with specific cable management equipment required.

Despite running in two States simultaneously, the production of both events was managed by Encore's South East Queensland Account Manager who worked closely with the Sydney team and Technical Director to ensure execution consistency.
